Bontrager Helps Re-write History: Ben Day Breaks 21-year Vail Pass Record
11 Jun 2008
After seven weeks of pain and frustration stemming from a high-speed crash at this year's Tour de Georgia, Ben Day finally turned the corner by winning the famed 9.8 mile Vail Pass Hill Climb. Riding a time trial bike outfitted with lightweight Bontrager speed components—including XXX Lite Aero Bars, XXX Lite Aero Brake Levers, and Aeolus wheels—Day scorched the course in a record pace of 25:48, beating the old course record set by Andy Hampsten in the 1987 Coors Classic by 45 seconds.
